Ram temple set to be BJP’s major 2024 campaign theme

NEW DELHI/LUCKNOW: The consecration of Ram Mandir at the ‘Janmasthan’ will mark the fulfilment of BJP’s ‘mandir wahin banayenge’ (we promise to build the temple at the same spot) campaign and come just ahead of the likely announcement of Lok Sabha elections. It is set to be one of the major themes of BJP’s 2024 campaign.

Only few months left before Lord Rama takes his place in Ayodhya: PM Narendra Modi on Vijayadashami

The party had already appeared to be gearing up for early announcement of the date, with PM Modi in his Dussehra speech saying the “much-awaited moment is about to arrive”.”Ram Lalla virajmaan hone hi wale hain,” he had said.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, in his Dussehra speech, also spoke about inauguration of the temple and exhorted people to be part of the celebrations.
The construction of Ram Mandir is reminiscent of the restoration of Somnath Mandir which was destroyed by Mahmud Ghaznavi several times, but with one big difference. The then home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and then President Rajendra Prasad had involved themselves in the effort to reconstruct Somnath Mandir, one of the 12 jyotirlings revered by devotees of Lord Shiva, in defiance of the opposition of the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
In the current instance, the incumbent, who presided over the foundation-laying ceremony, is not just going to be an active participant but many consider his arrival in the PMO as one of the big factors which facilitated the success of the Hindu side in the dispute over ownership of the site in Ayodhya where Babri Masjid stood before January 6, 1992, when a frenzied mob of karsevaks mobilised by VHP and other Sangh outfits razed it. Hindus believe one of Babur’s generals had demolished a temple at Lord Ram’s birthplace to build the Babri Masjid.
Special arrangements are being made for the arrival of devotees from across the country. The government has approved projects worth over Rs 30,000 crore for development of Ayodhya.
“It is our endeavour that most of the projects are completed by the time of Deepotsav as well as the remaining ones by December 31 and we will make divine and grand Ayodhya available to devotees of the country and the world,” Adityanath said during his visit to Ayodhya.
The entire Ayodhya city is undergoing a makeover. Construction is underway in every nook of the temple town to welcome tourists and pilgrims.
A new airport is being built, and the railway station and bus terminal are being revamped to improve mobility and accessibility. A greenfield self-contained township is also being developed over 1,407 acres for tourists and guests looking for long-term stay options and second homes.
