NEW DELHI: With the country under lockdown for over 50 days, Virat Kohli gave cricket fans a big morale booster and something to cheer about, as the Indian captain was seen doing laps in an open area in his society complex on Friday.
With news doing rounds that BCCI is looking to resume training for the India cricketers in a controlled environment, the Virat Kohli video became the talk of the town.
With over 16 lakhs views and over 8,000 comments already, fans appreciated Kohli as the 31-year-old aims to get back into the groove after the prolonged forced break.
“Putting in the work is a way of life and not a requirement of profession. Choice is yours.” Kohli wrote along with sharing a couple of videos.
Kohli’s teammates including the likes of Mohammed Shami, KL Rahul and others have been regularly posting their fitness training videos. But the video of Kohli is special as the India captain has for the first time taken to social media, sharing his fitness drills during the lockdown.
Earlier, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal confirmed that the board is looking for options for the players to start skill-based outdoor training post May 18, when the third phase of the lockdown comes to an end.
“Yes, the BCCI is exploring options to see how our players can start their skill-based outdoor training provided there are favourable guidelines from central government post May 18,” Dhumal said.
Mumbai, where Kohli lives, has been among the worst hit cities across India.
