What Graeme Smith has observed about MS Dhoni in IPL 2023

Before the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League started, it was already being talked about as possibly MS Dhoni‘s last hurrah on a cricket field. But if former South Africa captain Graeme Smith is to be believed, it might not be the case for the 41-year-old Chennai Super Kings‘ captain, who “has found his best again”.
In CSK’s last game, Dhoni blasted 20 runs off just 9 balls, which eventually proved crucial to his team’s 27-run win over Delhi Capitals.
Talking about Dhoni after the game on JioCinema, Smith said: “The pressure on him every time he goes to bat is enormous, the roars every time he gets on strike and the crowd goes berserk. It’s incredible to watch.
“This season, he has found his best again,” the South African added. “Khaleel (Ahmed) was bowling really well until that over against MS. He kind of read the play and had him under pressure. Once he hit that one down the ground, you could just see Khaleel, he didn’t think he’d get it going. That put him under pressure.

“20 off 9, strike rate of over 220, just the impetus he and Jadeja gave that inning, that 160 (167/8) total created pressure.”
