It’s not Sachin or Kohli, Pak cricketer tags this batter as India’s greatest
NEW DELHI: Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are undoubtedly the greatest batters of all time India has ever produced. The batting records in international cricket either belong to Tendulkar or Kohli as both have achieved greatness on the cricket field.
Tendulkar’s longevity and records, established over decades, have solidified his status as a cricketing legend, while Kohli’s aggressive and modern style has made him a dominant force in contemporary cricket. If someone is asked to name the greatest Indian batter, it has to be between Tendulkar and Kohli but discarded Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan surprised many with his take on the question.
When asked to select between Tendulkar and Kohli as the greatest Indian batsman, Junaid opted for the captain Rohit Sharma instead.
“I am going to say Rohit Sharma (when asked who’s the better batter between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli). He has all kinds of shots in his arsenal. Virat is a great player. But the way Sachin batted in a different era, he would have scored more than 100 centuries in today’s time. Everybody calls Rohit ‘The Hitman’ because of his incredible 264. He has also scored multiple double hundreds (in ODIs). This is rare, because he has done it more than once. He has also hit the most number of sixes,” Junaid said on Nadir Ali Podcast.
BCCI ends speculations, retains Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach alongside support staff
Rohit and Kohli have opted to skip the white-ball leg of the South Africa tour beginning December 10 and will join the squad for the two-match Test series.
Interestingly, both Rohit and Kohli haven’t played a T20I since the semifinals against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup and the BCCI was not clear whether the duo should be in India’s scheme of things for the T20 global showpiece in six months time.
