Bengal CM Mamata suffers ‘major’ head injury, PM Modi wishes her speedy recovery
NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress on Thursday said that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a major injury, and was later admitted to the SSKM hospital for treatment.
The All India Trinamool Congress shared photos of the West Bengal chief minister on a hospital bed with a deep cut on her forehead and blood on her face. Mamata Banerjee’s brother Kartik Banerjee told a Bengali news channel that the chief minister had a fall inside her Kalighat home after returning from an event in South Kolkata’s Ballygunge.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern for Mamata Banerjee’s health and wished her a swift recovery.
Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin also expressed shock over the incident and wished her a speedy recovery.
“Shocked and deeply concerned about the road accident involving Hon’ble chief minister of West Bengal @MamataOfficial didi. My thoughts are with her during this difficult time, and I’m wishing her a speedy recovery,” Stalin said in a post on X.
According to PTI sources, TMC national general secretary and Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital.
State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar also wished her a speedy recovery.
“Wishing chief minister Mamata Banerjee a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health,” West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a video, the chief minister was seen being taken to the hospital’s Neurosciences Department on a wheel chair with a bandage on her forehead.
The Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also expressed shock over the incident and wished her a speedy recovery.
“Shocked to see this. Pray for ur speedy recovery Didi. God bless u,” Arvind Kejriwal said on X.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar checked on the chief minister’s health, expressing concern and wishing a speedy recovery.
