VIJAYAWADA: The state education department has renamed six welfare schemes for students. The schemes, which were named after former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, were renamed after eminent personalities like Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, APJ Abdul Kalam and Dokka Seethamma.
Accusing the previous govt of corrupting the education system, minister Nara Lokesh stated that the new names aim to align with the state’s vision of making schools centres of learning devoid of politics.
As part of this overhaul, Jagananna Vidya Kanuka scheme will be named as Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra, while Jagananna Gorumudda will be known as Dokka Seethamma mid-day meal.
Mana Badi Nadu-Nedu is renamed as Mana Badi-Mana Bavishyattu, and Swecha Scheme will be renamed Bali Raksha. Jagananna Animutyalu will be called Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar.
The minister said the new names are tributes to eminent Indians, who had made significant contributions to education. Lokesh said the changes are part of a broader effort to cleanse the education system and create a conducive learning environment for students.
Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan welcomed the state govt’s decision to rename various schemes after eminent personalities.
