The Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council has ordered a city-wide meat ban on Janmashtami, closing non-vegetarian shops and restaurants, warning of legal action
The Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council has ordered meat ban across the city on Monday, on the occasion of Janmashtami. An order has been issued by the civic body to celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami with utmost devotion. The Municipal Council has requested the cooperation of all traders and the public.
Poultry, mutton, fish and meat shops under Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council will be closed on Monday. Non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants will also stay shut. The Municipal Commissioner has ordered a complete ban on animal slaughter and sale of meat on Mondays.
The municipal commissioner said that if chicken, mutton, fish, meat sellers and non-vegetarian hotels stay open in contravention to the rules, legal action will be taken against those meat sellers and non-vegetarian hotels.
